OptiLight- FAQ- FAKRO

Regulations referring to lighting and insolation specify only a minimum ration of window area measured in the sash inside diameter to floor area. In habitable rooms, this ratio should be 1:8 and in utility rooms 1:12. One should specify the function of the room, floor area, roof pitch (the higher the pitch, the higher the window should be), rafter spacing and take into account the following:

  • roof windows let more light inside than vertical windows
  • better lighting effects are achieved with few smaller windows than one large window

Maintenance of OptiLight windows consists in:

  •   removing every once in a while leaves and other grime which accumulated on the flashing and may obstruct rain water draining,
  •  painting wooden elements with water-based acrylic lacquer every 2-5 years, depending on the usage conditions e.g. humidity level in the room,
  • lubricating hinges with grease every couple of years.

The suitable flashing should be chosen depending on the roofing type in question; for corrugated roofing (e.g. tiles, sheet metal tiles) up to the height of 45mm, there should be used TZ flashings. Whereas, in case of flat roofing such as roofing paper, bituminous shingles with the maximum height of 16mm, TS flashings should be selected.

The optimum installation height of OptiLight windows is 120cm from the floor level. It should be noted, however, that the higher the window is installed, the greater the amount of light that gets inside the room. To make operating windows installed higher easier, the handle in OptiLight window is  installed at the bottom.

The roof window accessories (both internal and external) can be installed after loft has been finished and there is no need for their installation along with the window. The OptiLight windows are compatible with accessories manufactured by FAKRO.

Information about type and size of the window are provided on the data plate which is situated in the upper right corner. This plate makes it possible to easily identify the product – not only type and size of the window but also production code which allows to determine e.g. the date of production.

Warranty cards are obtainable from points of sale. They are issued at customer's request.
